Sustainability
Natural materials, responsibly sourced.
Natural reed is one of the oldest building materials in human history — and one of the most sustainable. It grows without pesticides, requires no synthetic treatment, and at the end of its life returns harmlessly to the earth.
Naturally renewable
Phragmites Australis reed regenerates annually. Our harvest follows seasonal cycles that protect the wetland ecosystems our lakes depend on.
Chemically pure sourcing
Our Turkish wetlands — Eber, Beyşehir, and Karamık — are among the most chemically pure aquatic reserves in the region, free from industrial contamination.
No synthetic treatment
Our reed is not chemically treated, dyed, or synthetically processed. It leaves our facility exactly as nature produced it — dried, cleaned, and bundled.
Fully biodegradable
At end of life, natural reed returns harmlessly to the environment. No microplastics, no synthetic residue — unlike competing synthetic thatch alternatives.
Natural reed vs synthetic thatch
Synthetic thatch alternatives are manufactured from polyethylene and polypropylene — petroleum-derived plastics that do not biodegrade. They shed microplastics over time and cannot be composted or recycled at end of life.
Natural Phragmites Australis reed has none of these drawbacks. It is the material European heritage buildings have used for centuries, and the material modern sustainability-conscious architects are choosing again today.
Indoor processing, reduced waste
Our indoor processing policy — storing all reed in our 3,500 m² climate-controlled facility — eliminates product loss from weather damage. Less waste in our supply chain means less pressure on the natural resources we depend on.
Specify natural reed for your next project
We supply architects, contractors, and hotel groups across Europe who have chosen natural over synthetic.
